Hannalena's story
Hannalena Design is a company operating with the energy of women from Western Finland, whose goal is to create unique, handcrafted jewelry and accessories; products that combine Finnish design with environmentally friendly materials and sustainable development values. The online store's selection also includes carefully selected retail products. This one-woman company is led by me, Hanna, a jewelry designer, craftsman, social scientist and mother of three. I am accompanied by a young spaniel who takes care of the outdoor and cuddle breaks during the working day.
My love for crafts has been with me my whole life, thanks to my creative and talented parents. I studied for a Master of Arts in Political Science, but the creative field attracted me. After working for a long time in online commerce and as a jewelry designer, I took a step towards my dream of owning my own business and completed a professional degree in entrepreneurship. With the help of the training and encouragement I received, I built my very own online store and jumped into the new and wonderful (at first, downright scary and wonderful) world of entrepreneurship.
I have a special place in my heart not only for crafts, but also - and especially - for my family and friends, as well as spaniels (and of course other furry faces), old wooden houses, rag rugs, wool socks, smooth coastal cliffs, sea breeze, music, Christmas, elves, peonies, long walks, morning coffee and my hometown of Rauma. Finnish nature is also close to my heart, and I often get inspiration for jewelry design from the beauty of different seasons.
The appreciation of our natural environment is also reflected in my company's products and practices. I want to design and manufacture my products as environmentally friendly, responsibly and in accordance with the principles of sustainable development as possible. I carefully select both the materials I use and the products I sell so that they support these environmental values. I use as many recycled materials as possible, such as recycled fabric and recycled plant-based PLA plastic. My goal is to create beautiful and everyday products that offer an opportunity for self-expression, while respecting nature and the principles of sustainable fashion.
